A Commitment to Social Impact and Community Change
The Lohengrin Foundation primarily supports organizations, initiatives, and programs aligned with our areas of interest. We believe that effective organizational leadership, coupled with promising and proven practices that address root causes and systemic barriers, leads to results that deliver social impact and change lives.
Racial, Economic & Social Justice
We support organizations that address structural and systemic barriers and policies that prevent people from underrepresented cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds from living a life free of poverty, violence, and opportunity. Recent grantees include the
Mississippi Center for Justice, Crossroads Fund, and Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI).
Arts Education
We
believe in the power of Arts Education to transform lives, improve academic
learning, build cultural connections, and power creativity. Recent grantees
include Ingenuity, Changing Worlds, and The People's
Music School.
The Arts
The
arts build vibrant communities, foster cultural awareness, spur economic
growth, strengthen community identity and promote social wellbeing. Recent
grantees include The Harris
Theater for Music and Dance, and the Grant Park
Orchestral Association / Grant Park Music Festival.
Education & Workforce Development
Access to a quality education, workforce development opportunities, mentoring, and support helps under-resourced individuals realize their full potential. We believe this is a critical tool to lift future generations out of poverty and build a stronger and more diverse society. Recent grantees include Friends of the Children, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ida B. Wells Scholarship Fund, Manufacturing Renaissance, and Reading Between the Lines.
International Development
By advancing refugee and immigrant rights, and building structures for advocacy and equal treatment across the globe, we can help realize a society where all people can exercise their fundamental human rights. Recent grantees include Oxfam America, Doctors Without Borders, Human Rights Watch, UNICEF, and Shared Interest.
Medical and Disease Prevention Research
Investing
in medical and disease prevention research, coupled with educational and family
support programs, enables us to pave the way for potential treatment options and help individuals and their families impacted by life altering diseases. Recent
grantees include Huntington's
Disease Society of America, Sinai Health System,
Chicago, and the University of Chicago, Roos and Kratsios Lab.
